Some scenes just ask to be painted. No grand concept, no layered symbolism, just a flower-laden bicycle leaning against a tree, the light hitting it exactly right, the world going soft and colorful behind it. This early pastel study was an exercise in trusting that instinct: if something stops you in your tracks, that's reason enough.
